Coronavirus: Assam sees 6 new cases, state tally surges to 191

Assam on Thursday recorded six new positive cases for the novel coronavirus. With these new cases, the state tally in Assam climbed to 191.

Among the new cases, two cases were reported from Kokrajhar district and four cases from Barpeta.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said six persons tested positive for Covid-19, three of which were at a quarantine centre in Kokrajhar.

“Two persons at Kokrajhar quarantine center tested and confirmed Covid-19 positive. Total cases 191,” the Assam CM said tweeted.

On Wednesday, 28 people tested positive for the new virus.

According to the updated by Assam government, the state registered 76 Covid-19 positive cases in the last 48 hours.

Assam has so far reported 191 Covid-19 positive cases, including 83 cases from Kamrup, 15 cases from Golaghat district, 14 cases from Cachar district, 10 cases from Kamrup, eight cases from Hojai district, seven cases from Jorhat district, six cases each from Morigaon, Goalpara, Nalbari districts, five cases each from Karimganj, Dhubri, Bongaigaon districts, four cases each from Nagaon, Kokrajhar, Barpeta districts, three cases from Sonitpur district, two cases from Biswanath districts and one each from South Salmara, Lakhimpur, Hailakandi, Sivasagar districts.

The state has now 136 active Covid-19 positive cases.
