A 35-year-old woman, who was visiting her husband lodged in a jail in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh, was gangraped by two jailguards and two other men in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, the victim in her statement said that she was gangraped by four men at a place called Kithore on the intervening night of November 1-2. Kithore is about 15 km from the Sarangpur sub-jail, where the victim’s husband is locked up and falls under the Salsali police station in district Shajapur.
The victim, who is a resident of village Khedwar in Rajgarh district, used to frequently visit Sarangpur sub-jail where her husband is locked up.
During those visits, she befriended two jailguards of Sarangpur sub-jail identified as Hariram and Mali Singh.
According to the victim’s complaint, Hariram and Mali Singh called her on her mobile phone on November 1 and said her husband was sick. Both the accused told her that her husband was taken to the Sarangpur hospital.
After receiving the call, the victim contacted Ramchandra “who she treated like a brother” and asked him to take her to Sarangpur, police said.
Ramchandra, along with his nephew, took the victim to Sarangpur and reached Kithore as the two jailguards directed them on phone.
As they reached Kithore, the victim was first gangraped by Hariram and Mali Singh. After Hariram and Mali Singh left, Ramchandra and his nephew also took turns to rape her.
The victim reached the Salsali police station on November 6 and filed a complaint.
According to Salsali police station in-charge Prem Lata Khatri, a case of gangrape has been registered against the four accused. Khatri said efforts are on to trace the accused.
The two jailguards did not report for duty on Wednesday and were also not found in their staff quarters, police said. The other two accused are also absconding.
